Responsibility for employees
Our company culture
For us as an employer, our social responsibility to our employees defines a central task: we want to offer stable, long-term employment and provide an attractive working environment where employees feel safe, valued and inspired. This aspiration is reflected by our company culture that puts people first, fosters cooperation and is based on a shared conviction: by promoting health, realising potential and rewarding performance, we effectively support the creativeness of all Storck employees.
Social certification
At Storck, we practice social responsibility that is also confirmed externally through certification of our German production sites in Berlin, Halle, Ohrdruf and Taunusstein according to the SA8000 social standard. We have established a management system according to this standard that defines social requirements, verifies compliance with them and makes improvements. Compliance with the social standard and its extensive additional requirements regarding forced and child labour, freedom of association, working time limitation and appropriate remuneration as well as occupational health and safety and the ban on discrimination is also required for our suppliers.
Our production facilities are audited based on these requirements every year. The occupational health and safety criteria are especially multifaceted. We have successfully passed all annual surveillance audits since our initial certification in 2010.
Equal rights
More than 8,000 people work at Storck. Over 90% are employed at our production sites in Germany, while other colleagues work at 22 sales companies around the world. For all our employees in all countries, neither age and gender nor nationality, religion or lifestyle influence their opportunities or their pay at Storck. We do not tolerate discrimination. The diversity of our employees defines our company.
Storck is a family business. As such, a good work and family balance for our employees is important to us. In order to accomplish this, we offer flexible working time models in many parts of the company with flexitime and part-time work. These flexible working time options also facilitate the return to work for employees on parental leave: we work with them to find individual solutions that make day-to-day life easier for parents and help them in their continued employment. We are proud that 94% of mothers and fathers at our production sites return to work after their parental leave.

Fair and bound by collective agreement
We apply the collective agreement for the confectionery industry at all sites in Germany, but on principle with remuneration above the general pay scale. Our employees also receive an annual Christmas bonus, holiday pay and capital-forming payments. Most of our staff by far have permanent employment contracts. We only have temporary positions for tasks of a limited duration, for example, parental leave replacements, student trainees and interns. To date we have consistently achieved our goal to hire staff with permanent employment contracts and to keep this proportion continuously high.
Beyond remuneration, we support our employees to the best of our ability to appropriately recognise their performance and dedication to our company. This is realised through cooperation and appreciation in day-to-day work as well as a number of company benefits. Aside from the company pension plan, this includes, for example, Storck employee participation that allows our employees to take part in Storck’s financial success.
Fostering
Lifelong learning – the opportunity for ongoing professional and personal development – plays a central role in our understanding of sustainability. We foster our employees through numerous training and continuing education programmes, and encourage them to learn from each other and to pass their knowledge down from generation to generation. In the course of technical training, workshops and individual consultations, we help our employees actively and successfully shape their workplace and their career at Storck.

Closely connected
Our employees stay with us for many years. Their solidarity with Storck is reflected by average employment of more than 10 years at the production sites in Germany. We view this long-term loyalty as validation of our actions and the creation of a working environment where everyone is valued and part of the community.
